Autumn Sorrentino (they/she), Clinical Intern

Age range: Adolescents 15+ & Adults 18+

Hello reader! My name is Autumn Sorrentino, and I am a clinical intern working on getting my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through the Counseling and Career Development program at Colorado State University. Upon graduation, I intend to obtain licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, and continue working in the Fort Collins area. Before entering my program, I graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Psychology from Colorado State University, concentrating in Clinical Counseling.

I believe in tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each client, recognizing that everyone’s journey is different. Because of this, I utilize techniques from many modalities in my work with clients, depending on what might best achieve their goals. You’ll likely see me integrate ideas from the person-centered, existential, CBT, body-based, creative, and IFS lenses– though I most heavily lean on concepts from feminist therapy. That being said, I want to make it abundantly clear that the name ‘feminist’ does not imply that I only work with cisgender women; rather, I use this theory to create a framework centered around hitting ‘pause’ on the messages that we are often given about ourselves, living authentically, and practicing values, which applies to everyone! I find particular joy in helping people work through identity, trauma, spirituality, body image, career exploration, anxiety, and depression. I am especially passionate about working with LGBTQIA2+ populations, and survivors of interpersonal violence.

With all clients, I strongly center myself in empathy, curiosity, and empowerment. As a helping professional, I love nothing more than to see my clients grow into their most genuine selves, and to step into the strength and self-love that they have always had within them. I am deeply honored to hear and hold space for my clients' stories, recognizing the courage it takes to share their experiences and trusting me with their personal journeys. I am committed for the deep connections we make in therapy to be met with affirmation, safety, and validation. As such, I take a trauma-informed, sex positive, multicultural, and mutually respectful attitude to practice. If you are seeking a therapist who values inclusivity, who engages with continuous learning, and who is committed to supporting you on your mental health journey, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can work towards healing, growth, and a more fulfilling life.

Out of the office, you’ll find me curled up with my partner reading, writing poetry, or playing games during the winter months, while the summer months are filled with paddleboarding, hiking, and lounging by the pool, with a sprinkling of rock climbing throughout!
