Sydney Spiller (she/her), LPCC

Hi there! My name is Sydney.

As someone who has read many therapist bio’s over the years, in search of just the right fit, I know that choosing a therapist is a huge decision. I appreciate the chance to share more about myself, my background and my approach when working with clients.

To get us started, I'll share a little bit about my professional background.  As someone who struggles/d with mental health concerns, starting college was a particularly challenging time for me as I was coming out. During this time, I was engaging in unhealthy relationships and behaviors. I wished there had been a resource that could help me. So, after graduating, I pursued a career in student affairs (i.e. helping students outside of the classroom). The almost decade I spent working with college students is where I deepened my knowledge of and care for community development, racial/social/economic justice, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction. Through this work, I found my passion for walking alongside people in their journey and challenges, and chose to pursue a career change.

In transitioning to the counseling profession, I found that my approach and goal in working with clients is to create a collaborative and supportive space, where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to navigate their challenges in a way that is authentic to them.  My areas of interest include working with the LGBTQ+ community and those practicing polyamory or non-monogamy, with a focus on creating a supportive space for exploring and affirming one’s identity. I utilize trauma-informed care, integrated family systems, somatic processing, and harm reduction to offer a holistic approach to therapy  I am excited about the opportunity to learn and grow alongside my clients, and I look forward to making a meaningful difference in their lives.

My qualifications include that I am a licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. I earned a Master's in Counseling and Career Development from Colorado State University.

Outside of work, you will probably find me drinking way too much coffee! I also enjoy reading and learning, playing board games with my partner and friends, and taking walks with my dog Benji and daughter.
