Hi there, my name is Morgan! I'm a counseling intern and I'm excited for the opportunity to potentially work with you.
I'm currently working on my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Cumberlands, and I received my Bachelor's in Social Work, with minors in Psychology and Sociology, from Northern Arizona University. I grew up in San Diego, attended my last year of high school and college in Arizona, and studied abroad in the Netherlands. I lived in Colorado Springs for a few years, and now I am lucky enough to call Fort Collins home. I'm so grateful for these transitions, as each place has shaped how I see the world.
During my undergraduate years, I volunteered with Crisis Text Line and completed an internship in crisis response with my local fire department, which sparked my passion for being a steady presence during some of the most painful moments of someone's life. When I moved to Colorado, I began my career as a family support coordinator, traveling to intensive care unites throughout Southern Colorado to support families navigating the process of organ donation. After a few years, I transitioned to an Adminission Counselor role, then to the Director of Admissions, at a therapy organizzation focused on experiential work with teens and young adults. I also became a Certified Health and Wellness Coach and a Certified Pilates Instructor to deepen my understanding of holistic wellbeing. Each of these roles taught me something about healing, empathy, and resiliency.
While these roles all significantly shaped my desire to support others, one of the biggest reasons I decided to pursue this specific career path is from the impact my own therapy journey had on me. I spent a while feeling defeated when trying to find my own therapist and was terrified to begin the work. When I found the right fit, I noticed the fear slipping away and the relief of having a safe space to process. Years later, I can't imagine my life without the work my therapist and I do together. I truly would not be the person I am today without this journey, and it would mean the world to me to be alongside an individual as they discover their own potential.
I've been a deeply sensitive person for as long as I can remember, which use to feel like the biggest weakness, but now feels more like a gift I get to bring into this work. I draw from person-centered, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and somatic approaches. More than any specific framework, what matters most to me is te connection and the therapeutic relationship. I want our sessions to feel relational and easygoing, like a place you can take a breath and just be. I also believe humor has a real place in healing, and I love laughing with my clients when it its. I'm endlessly curious about the mind-body connection, and I love bringing mindfulness and experiential activities into my work.
It's an honor to be a part of anyone's journey and I feel especially called to work with trauma survivors, young people navigating big life transitions, women, 2SLGBTQIA+ folx, and those working in helping fields, such as social work, healthcare, public safety, and more.
Outside of sessions, I love to bring a sense of whimsy and mindfulness into my everyday life. Quality time with loved ones fuels me, so you'll often find me spending time with my husband, our cat, and our bunny, or spending time with our wonderful friends and family. Some of my favorite things in the world include a swim in the ocean, laughing so hard that my stomach hurts of tears roll down my cheeks, experiencing new places, cuddling with my animals, flipping through vinyl, watching plants bloom, blasting Taylor Swift with the windows down, making something from scratch, getting lost in different worlds through books and video games, taking a moment to pause and find gratitude, and maybe best of all, feeling seen, heard, and loved.
I am so looking forward to meeting you!
