Audrey Griffin (she/her), Clinical Intern

Hello! I'm Audrey, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern at ICW, currently completing my master's degree at Colorado State University. I am originally from the small mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado, where I developed my love for nature along with a questionable idea of what qualifies as good weather! I later moved to Fort Collins for my undergraduate studies, earning degrees in Clinical/Counseling Psychology and Spanish. After undergrad, I lived in Spain teaching English at a secondary school before returning to Fort Collins for graduate school, drawn back by both my love for Colorado and my passion for counseling.

Both my studies and working abroad widened my understanding of how culture shapes identity and deepened my appreciation for the many ways people make meaning of themselves and the world around them. I also have experience providing trauma-informed support to survivors of sexual violence. This work reinforced the importance of meeting each person with sensitivity and respect while avoiding assumptions about their experiences. I believe meaningful understanding begins with deeply listening to and honoring each person's story.

I see therapy as fundamentally a relationship between two people, so as a therapist I strive to show up authentically myself. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. Along with that, while I take my clients and their experiences very seriously, humor is a big part of how I move through the world, and so I think there is room for laughter in sessions as well. I view many of the patterns people struggle with as adaptations that once served to protect them. Together, we can explore these patterns with compassion rather than with judgment, understanding the roles they have played while considering whether they continue to serve your present needs and goals.

I am particularly drawn to Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic approaches, and Gestalt therapy. I support clients in developing awareness of their emotions, body sensations, and different "parts" of themselves. I believe that connecting with our full internal experience can cultivate self-compassion while also creating space for change. I strive to foster a therapeutic environment that is affirming, inclusive, and responsive to each person's unique identity and experience. I feel most myself when helping create spaces where people feel seen, understood, and supported, and I would be honored to be part of your journey.

In my free time, you can usually find me hiking, skiing, camping, playing volleyball, reading, trying new coffee shops, baking, or enthusiastically starting arts-and-crafts projects that with varying levels of success. I also have a tendency to say yes to adventures first and figure out the details later which has led to some of my favorite experiences! Most of all I deeply value time outdoors, meaningful connection, and spending time with the people and places that matter most to me.
