Hey y’all! I’m Devan (he/him), fellow queer and neurodivergent weirdo studying to be a counselor at Saybrook University and current Clinical Therapy Intern. I’m really into supporting neurodivergent and queer folks, and I believe in making a safe and open space where we can work on healing and self-discovery together.
I currently specialize in managing ADHD and Autism, with a special focus on queer adolescents and adults. What that means is that I realllllllly enjoy working with that population – it’s my passion, but I am not limited to just that. School and work have given me a mix of skills to help with things like queer topics, exploring gender identity and sexuality, and dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidality, and stress. I also specialize in working with common issues that cis-men face, like opening up, challenging masculinity norms, and connecting with their emotions.
I blend different styles of therapy when working with clients, focusing a lot on how connecting with others and building strong relationships can help us understand our lives better. My way of doing therapy pulls in ideas from a few different places like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, and EMDR, all to make sure the support is right for YOU. I truly believe that real, honest relationships can spark growth and healing. So, I bring a lot of heart, openness, and understanding into our work together. I’m all for having a good laugh with each other or using a great metaphor, often mixing in hands-on activities and adding a creative spin to our sessions. I’m in the process of training for Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a cool method for diving into and working through trauma.
At the heart of it, I want to help you connect your body, mind, and emotions, helping you stand in your power as the incredible human that you are.
I’m here for kiddos, teens, and adults from any background. I’m all about collaboratively making a space where you feel understood, seen, and valued. As a Clinical Intern, I’m here to learn from you as much as I am here to help you on your journey to personal growth and emotional wellbeing.
Away from work, I’m just a queer, neurodivergent nerd finding my way in a world that was not designed for people like me. I’m super into nature, spooky stuff, video games, and hanging out with my partner, Bobbi.
Starting therapy is a big deal and can be a beautiful experience with the right kind of support. I’m here with my knowledge and understanding, ready to walk with you on this path of self-discovery and healing. Thanks for thinking of me as someone you’d want on your side.
